What games are good for in service design

Stefan Holmlid, Linköpings universitet & Kirsikka Vaajakallio, Hellon

Welcome to the first Experio Seminar!

Experio Lab is inviting to the Experio Seminars. Once a month we’ll invite interesting researchers to talk about service design, service logic and user-driven services in public sector. Our first guests are Stefan Holmlid, professor at Linköping University and Kirsikka Vaajakallio, Lead service designer at Hellon who will talk on the subject: What games are good for in service design

One perspective on service design and its methods and tools, is how they contribute to engaging stakeholders in design and transformation processes. Some of these are referred to as “generative” methods, as opposed to methods that are more passive. Using games as an approach to engage stakeholders has been explored in service design for a while in the form of design games. Kirsikka Vaajakallio has a background as a researcher at Aalto university, developing and studying design games in service design. Stefan and Kirsikka will introduce what is known about using games in design, and have a dialogue on topics and challenges that comes with using games for engagement.
