Design in policy: Insights from recent research

Lucy Kimbell (PhD), Professor of Contemporary Design Practices, Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, UK

Experio Lab is inviting to the Experio Seminars. Once a month we’ll invite interesting researchers to talk about service design, service logic and user-driven services in public sector.

Practices associated with service design, design thinking and strategic design are increasingly visible in public policy making. Design teams and public servants using design approaches are now embedded in many countries in central and local government, as well as in civil society organisations and businesses and agencies working with government or in relation to public issues. This talk provides an overview of recent research assessing these developments, including examples from the United Kingdom. Given the uncertainty, complexity and contestation facing policy makers grappling with societal and environmental challenges, what design capabilities might be required for innovative policy responses?

The seminar will be held in english.

May 17th 08:30 – 09:45 on Zoom

The seminar is free of charge and open for everyone.
