AI Texts and images generation for the arts : some statements about self-hosted solutions

Dominique Cunin, artist-researcher & creative coder, research head of the Grenoble•Valence Art and Design School (Esad Grenoble•Valence, France), associate researcher at EnsadLab (Ecole des Arts Décoratifs de Paris)

Experio Lab is inviting to the Experio Seminars. Once a month we’ll invite interesting researchers to talk about service design, service logic and user-driven services in public sector.

In the fields of artistic creation and creative industries, AI technologies are at the forefront of increasing debate: plagiarism of artworks without respect of intellectual property, bias in training datasets, worries about the replacement of several creative professions, etc. As an artist-researcher and software designer, it is important to understand these technologies and explore their possible usages before considering them a threat: what is the aesthetic potential of generative AI?

In this presentation Dominique Cunin presents some of his current explorations into offline, self-hosted tool chains that enable artists to work with generative AI models.
