Taking the Pulse on Healthcare

Digital survey that enables feedback on healthcare.

Background

Taking the Pulse on Healthcare started in spring 2015 as a pilot project in two surgeries at the Central Hospital in Karlstad, one surgery in Arvika and three health centres in Värmland. Taking the Pulse on Healthcare is an innovation project run by Experio Lab. Nordic Medtest has assisted with tests of the system solution.

Goal

The idea behind the survey is to give patients and family members an opportunity to easily provide feedback on care services, both suggestions for improvements and positive feedback. At the same time, it also provides care services with tools to systematically respond to and act on the opinions and needs that arise.

Implementation

The digital survey contains five questions that are selected randomly from a greater number of questions. The patient can reply to the questions and leave comments directly on a screen during the care visit or via the website tapulsen.nu. Here you can also see the results from all the participating care units in real time. Patients who give feedback will receive a response via the website or e-mail.

Result

Taking the Pulse on Healthcare is a pilot project and will be evaluated before the project ends.

So far, the project has been appreciated by the participants. They have expressed that the project provides:

  • quick and useful feedback on completed work
  • useful help in identifying areas of improvement based on the patient’s experience
  • useful feedback for managers and co-workers
  • more opportunities for patients and family members to influence care services

Projektinfo

Taking the Pulse on Healthcare is a digital survey that quickly shows what patients and citizens think of care services. It is also a new way of communicating transparently regarding the patients’ and citizens’ involvement in the development of care services.
